Contracts Manager – Manchester/Warrington

Salary: £80,000-£90,000 + package

We are seeking a highly experienced Contracts Manager to join a leading civil engineering and construction business operating across Manchester and Warrington. This is a hands-on, senior role for a technically strong and commercially astute individual with a proven track record in delivering high-value civil engineering projects from inception to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage multiple civil engineering projects, including design, shoring, formwork, earthworks, highways, FRC, United Utilities works, and industrial units.

Take ownership of the commercial management of projects, forecasting costs, assessing value, and ensuring delivery within budget and programme.

Chair weekly internal project meetings and client meetings, ensuring clear communication and alignment across all stakeholders.

Implement and drive a programme/target-focused mindset across the team, actively managing progress, risks, and opportunities.

Ensure HSQE standards are maintained at all times across projects.

Contribute to pre-construction activities, including estimating, risk analysis, and programme planning.

Deliver packages from cradle to grave, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to specification.

Candidate Requirements:

Minimum 15 years' experience in civil engineering and construction contract management.

Strong technical knowledge across design, shoring, formwork, civil works, highways, FRC, earthworks, and industrial projects.

Deep understanding of NEC and JCT contracts.

Commercially aware with experience forecasting costs and managing project value.

Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and drive performance.

Strong track record in pre-construction and project delivery.

Stable career history; candidates should have demonstrated long-term commitment to previous employers.

Experience with temp works, engineering, and HSQE compliance is essential.

Desirable qualifications: First Aid, Manager's CSCS, Appointed Person, and experience with SharePoint and MS Project.

Engineering background preferred, ideally with experience in companies turning over £10-15 million.
