European Commercial Contracts Manager
About Our Client
We are partnered with a highly respected, international construction organisation operating across complex, capital-intensive sectors throughout the UK and Europe. The business has built a strong market presence delivering technically demanding projects for blue-chip clients, underpinned by robust governance, commercial discipline and sophisticated risk management frameworks.
Our client is seeking a European Commercial Contracts Manager based in London to operate as a senior contractual authority across its European operations. This is not a traditional delivery-focused Commercial Manager role; instead, it is a specialist position focused on contract risk advisory, governance and commercial protection across live and pipeline projects.
The successful individual will come from a strong construction commercial pathway — Quantity Surveying, Cost Management or Estimating — and will combine technical contract expertise with the ability to influence senior stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions. This is a role for a commercially astute professional who thrives on strategic advisory rather than day-to-day package delivery.
Responsibilities
* Provide expert contractual advice across European construction projects
* Identify, assess and mitigate commercial and contractual risk exposure
* Advise senior leadership on contract interpretation and risk positioning
* Support pre-contract strategy, including review of terms, amendments and negotiation positioning
* Oversee compliance with contract conditions and governance frameworks
* Support dispute avoidance and resolution strategies
* Review and advise on variations, claims and entitlement assessments from a risk perspective
* Contribute to the development of best-practice commercial and contractual processes
* Provide guidance and mentoring to project-level commercial teams on contractual matters
Criteria for the Role
* Strong construction background with a commercial career pathway (Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, Estimating or similar)
* Extensive experience in contract administration and contractual risk management
* Experience operating across complex, multi-jurisdiction European projects
* Strong knowledge of standard forms of contract and bespoke amendments
* Demonstrable ability to advise senior stakeholders at executive level
* Highly developed analytical and negotiation skills
* Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
* MRICS or equivalent professional membership preferred
What’s On Offer
* £140,000 basic salary
* Executive-level exposure across European operations
* Strategic, advisory-focused position with significant influence
* Long-term progression within a stable international organisation
