Commercial Manager – Passive Fire Protection
One of the UK's rapidly expanding passive fire protection providers is seeking to strengthen its commercial team. From its office near Brentwood, the business delivers fire door, fire barrier and structural steel protection services to a broad range of organisations, including major hospitals, universities and construction firms.

Commercial Manager – 12‑Month Fixed Term Contract
This full‑time position is based in the Essex and reports directly to the Commercial Director. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The role is responsible for the day‑to‑day commercial oversight and performance of allocated projects. This includes managing valuations and applications, producing accurate CVRs, monitoring project progress, protecting project margins, and supporting both the Commercial Director and Operations teams with commercial guidance and reliable reporting.
Key Responsibilities
1. Enquiry Management
Work with operations management to understand work requirements and associated costs.
Support the Commercial Director in developing new business and maintaining customer satisfaction.
Communicate effectively with clients.
2. Financial Management
Prepare and maintain monthly valuations and applications in line with client submission deadlines.
Oversee the valuation, application and invoicing process for each project.
Collaborate with credit control and operations teams to resolve outstanding or disputed accounts.
3. Commercial Reporting
Assist operations in maximising project value and monitor financial performance by reconciling labour and material costs against revenue.
Maintain monthly cost value reconciliation reports (CVRs).
Oversee the upkeep of the Payment Tracker.
Experience & Skills
Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager within the fire protection sector or wider construction industry is essential. Familiarity with cloud‑based systems and digital recording tools is beneficial.
Training and development will be provided through a combination of external qualifications and internal on‑the‑job learning.
The role requires strong verbal and written communication skills, good organisation and time management, adaptability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
