Barker Ross is recruiting for a Junior Quantity Surveyor to join a specialist contractor operating within the tunnelling and heavy civil engineering sector across the Cardiff and Bridgend region.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Junior QS with estimating experience who is looking to develop their career within complex infrastructure and tunnelling projects, gaining exposure to commercial management and NEC contract administration.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the commercial management of tunnelling and heavy civil engineering projects
Support cost control, valuations, and financial reporting across live projects
Prepare and review estimates and tender documentation
Assist with subcontractor procurement and commercial administration
Support the management of NEC contracts, including early warnings, compensation events, and change control
Maintain accurate commercial records and project documentation
Work closely with site and project teams to monitor project performance and costsRequirements:

Previous experience in a Junior Quantity Surveyor or Assistant QS role within civil engineering or infrastructure
Estimating experience essential
Working knowledge or exposure to NEC contracts
Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills
Excellent communication skills and willingness to learn within a fast-paced environment
Relevant construction or quantity surveying qualification preferredPackage:

Salary circa £38,000 (depending on experience)
