The Opportunity
We are supporting a leading engineering services provider delivering works within the UK Defence Nuclear estate. Due to continued programme demand, we are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support infrastructure procurement and full lifecycle commercial management on a major remediation project.
This is a long-term contract within a structured, regulated environment, offering exposure to NEC4 commercial delivery on a high-profile programme.
Role Overview
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will provide end-to-end commercial support, working closely with the Client Commercial team and Project Management function to ensure robust contract administration and cost control in line with NEC4 principles.
You will operate within a Joint Project Team environment, managing compensation events, applications for payment and commercial governance processes.
Key Responsibilities
* Review, assess and negotiate Contractor Compensation Event (CE) quotations
* Draft and manage Early Warnings and contractual notices
* Provide commercial advice on extensions of time, retention release and liquidated damages
* Lead assessment of applications for payment
* Monitor cost forecasting through to completion
* Prepare and agree Final Accounts
* Administer contracts via CEMAR
* Manage purchase orders and invoicing processes
* Attend Early Warning and Commercial meetings
* Maintain issue logs and support audit/compliance queries
* Ensure compliance with Contract Management Plans and assurance standards
Essential Experience
* Strong experience delivering Quantity Surveying services on complex infrastructure projects
* Proven NEC4 contract lifecycle management experience
* Experience managing Compensation Events
* Proficient in CEMAR
* Experience within regulated or secure environments
* Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or equivalent
Desirable
* Experience working at HMNB Devonport or similar defence sites
* RICS Chartered (or equivalent professional accreditation)
* NEC4 Project Manager Accreditation (PMA)
* Previously held SC clearance
Security Clearance
Due to the nature of the work, applicants must be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC) or already hold active clearance.
