Mechanical Estimator / Senior Mechanical Estimator – Southampton Area – £60,000 – £75,000 + Car / Allowance + Bonus
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join a respected M&E Building Services contractor delivering projects from £100k to £5m.
The business delivers mechanical and electrical building services projects across commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, leisure, and both public and private sector environments. They have built a strong reputation for technical delivery, repeat business, and long-term client relationships. Pre-construction and estimating are regarded as critical functions within the business, with direct visibility to senior leadership and genuine influence on project selection and commercial strategy.
The Role
As Mechanical Estimator, you will take full responsibility for preparing accurate and competitive mechanical building services tenders from initial enquiry through to submission and project handover.
You will price HVAC systems, plantrooms, heating systems, chilled water systems, ventilation, pipework, and public health services across a varied portfolio of building services projects, working closely with Directors and Project Managers to ensure tenders are commercially robust and technically sound.
There is scope for this role to suit either an experienced Mechanical Estimator or a Senior Mechanical Estimator capable of taking a lead role within the pre-construction function.
Key Responsibilities
* Preparing detailed mechanical building services tenders from drawings and specifications
* Producing accurate take-offs and cost plans
* Pricing HVAC, plantrooms, heating, ventilation, chilled water, and public health installations
* Obtaining and analysing supplier and subcontractor quotations
* Reviewing technical documentation and identifying value engineering opportunities
* Risk analysis and commercial review of tender submissions
* Supporting smooth handover to project delivery teams
About You
* Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within M&E Building Services
* Strong knowledge of HVAC, pipework, plantroom, and mechanical systems
* Experience pricing commercial, healthcare, industrial, or education projects
* Strong understanding of pre-construction, tendering, and commercial processes
* Experience using estimating software such as Ensign is advantageous
* Commercially astute with strong attention to detail
Remuneration Package – Mechanical Estimator
* £60,000 – £75,000
