We're delighted to be partnering with a leading UK main contractor to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of upcoming hospital and schools projects.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-structured commercial team delivering essential public-sector schemes. You'll support the Managing Quantity Surveyor and wider project team to ensure strong cost control, contractual compliance and overall commercial performance.
The Role
As Quantity Surveyor, you'll play a key role in managing the financial and contractual aspects of live healthcare and education projects.
You'll be responsible for supporting procurement, managing subcontract packages, maintaining accurate reporting and ensuring the project is commercially protected throughout its lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Reporting
Support implementation of commercial procedures and best practice
Prepare accurate monthly cost and performance reports
Produce cost/value reconciliations and assist with forecasting
Maintain robust commercial records and documentation
Procurement & Subcontract Management
Assist with subcontract procurement, tender analysis and drafting subcontract documents
Administer subcontract agreements and monitor subcontractor performance
Assess and manage subcontract variations
Prepare and manage subcontract payments
Contract & Change Control
Issue contract notices and support formal change control procedures
Price and manage main contract variations
Contribute to delay records and extension-of-time submissions
Support dispute avoidance and resolution where required
Project Collaboration
Work closely with the Project Manager and site team
Identify design changes and value-engineering opportunities
Attend commercial and project meetings
Provide guidance to junior commercial staff
What We're Looking For
Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within Healthcare / Hospital or Education / Schools projects
Good understanding of standard forms of contract (JCT, NEC, etc)
Strong measurement and valuation skills
Experience preparing cost/value reports and assessing variations
Confident negotiating with subcontractors
Knowledge of CIS requirements and commercial legislation
Strong IT skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint essential)
CSCS card required
Desirable:
Experience delivering healthcare or education projects
Professional membership (RICS, CIOB, ICES) or working towards
Experience using COINS or similar commercial systems
SSSTS or SMSTS
