Job Role: Project Manager

Location: Midlands – Areas 7 & 9
Contract: Temporary (6–12 Months)
Rate: £400–£450 per day

Role Overview:

We are recruiting an experienced Project Manager to oversee highways and civil engineering works across Areas 7 & 9 in the Midlands. This is a 6–12 month temporary role with a well‑established national contractor known for delivering major infrastructure projects to a high standard.

You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and driving project delivery within agreed budgets, timelines, and scope. The role also involves providing updates to senior stakeholders, ensuring compliant site delivery, and managing customer interactions such as road users and residents with professionalism and empathy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee all aspects of highways projects
• Manage established sites and ensure safe and efficient delivery
• Review and approve Health & Safety documentation
• Identify engineering discrepancies and implement corrective actions
• Develop and manage project timelines and programmes
• Produce method statements and risk assessments
• Manage all site‑related administration and documentation
• Monitor project budgets and ensure financial objectives are met
• Report regularly to senior management and key stakeholders
• Track project performance and initiate improvements where required
• Organise resources including labour, materials, plant, and subcontractors
• Ensure all plant and machinery are compliant and suitable
• Provide leadership and guidance to supervisors, foremen, and site teams
• Support training and development of operatives and new starters
• Ensure all personnel are trained and competent for allocated tasks
• Assist in closing out Health & Safety files and project documentation
• Deal with road users, residents, and customers professionally and empathetically

Skills & Experience Required:

• HND / HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent
• CSCS Gold Card – essential
• SSSTS or SMSTS – essential
• NRSWA – preferred
• Strong experience managing civil engineering or highways projects
• Competent using MS Project
• Excellent understanding of contract documentation and project processes
• Strong leadership with a proactive Health & Safety mindset
• Highly organised with strong time‑management skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Full clean driving licence

Pay & Contract Details:

• £400–£450 per day (experience dependent)
• 6–12 month contract
• Consistent workload across major highways schemes
• Work with a respected contractor delivering nationally significant projects
