Street Cleansing Driver – Clinical Waste

Connect2Luton are excited to recruit a Street Cleansing Driver – Clinical Waste on behalf of Luton Borough Council.

Main purpose of position:

To provide and effective clinical waste collection and advise service from households and health establishments within the Borough of Luton.

You will be responsible to:

Provide a clinical waste collection service from residents and health clinics within the Borough of Luton. Providing expert advice and support to both customers and providers on ensuring safe removal of clinical waste.
Drive and manoeuvre vehicle plant and equipment in a safe and effective manner, undertaking pre-use/after use safety checks, routine maintenance & cleaning tasks and reporting any vehicle damage/defects immediately to the street cleansing supervisor.
Ensure that all necessary information recording is completed on time and accurately.
Undertake on-site assessments of working conditions, health and safety risks, and safe working practices when undertaking clinical waste collection with due regard for the need to show compassion to vulnerable members of the community.
In order that a high quality of service can be provided to the people living and working in Luton there will be a requirement to undertake other street cleansing duties, or to occasionally undertake work in other refuse collection operations.

Skills and Experience:

Demonstrable experience of carrying out lifting tasks
Able to accurately read, record and follow verbal and written instruction and information, maintain and undertake assessments and log sheets
Demonstrable organisation skills able to react and adapt working routines to changing demands at short notice
Demonstrable communication skills – able to deal and advise members of the public and suppliers in a polite and helpful and influencing manner to ensure safety of clinical waste removal
Must hold a current and valid Carriage of Dangerous goods licence (ADR) for clinical waste categories 6.1, 6.2
O.S.H, barrier training, Health and Safety
Possession of a full current driving licence. CPC Card. Tacho Card
Able to converse with ease with members of the public and provide effective help or advice in accurate and fluent spoken EnglishAbout Us
