Health & Safety and Environmental advisor
The Health & Safety and Environmental advisor, will provide expert (SHE) advice to project teams, including managers, design and operational teams, contractors, and also stakeholders. The role ensures compliance with relevant SHE management systems, UK legislation, and industry standards, particularly within rail infrastructure environments such as London Underground and Network Rail.
Responsibilities include: conducting audits and site inspections, coordinating safety across multiple interfaces, supporting incident investigations, and promoting a strong safety culture. The role also involves reviewing risk assessments, safe systems of work, and construction phase plans to ensure CDM 2015 compliance. The successful candidate will deliver training and toolbox talks, engage with safety committees, and maintain accurate safety records and reports for senior leadership and joint coordination groups. Strong stakeholder collaboration and the ability to manage safety requirements across shared project environments are essential.
Rate – £400 – £500 LTD rate – depending on experience
Duation – 18 months
Location – Varuous locations on the P:iccadilly line – including – Acton, Chiswick, East Finchley, Hendon
Hours – Monday to Friday, – but some additional night work maybe required depending on work
Skills:
NEBOSH Certificate – Essential
Personal Track Safety (PTS), PTS AC, PTS DCCR, Industry Common Induction (ICI), London Underground Induction (LU IND), LU Substation Competency – desierable not essential
Experience working within London Underground and/or Network Rail environments – essential
Knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and ability to ensure compliance
Experience conducting safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations
Strong communication, presentation, planning, and decision-making skills
Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships at all organisational levels
Competent in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Valid UK driving licence
Team player with the ability to champion safety culture and deliver training

NEBOSH Certificate (required)
IOSH Managing Your Environmental Responsibilities or equivalent (preferred or in progress)
Personal Track Safety (PTS) and related rail safety certifications – not essential
CDM 2015 compliance knowledge
Desirable: Working towards Chartered IOSH membership (CMIOSH)
Desirable: Competent and experienced Risk Assessor
