Architect – Commercial & Defence
Architect – Commercial + Defence (London) | Salary – £45,000-£55,000
If your current role is starting to feel like the same project type, the same details, the same issues, this is a solid move.
I’m recruiting for an Architect to join a Commercial + Defence team within a 100+ person, multi-studio practice (including a London studio).
The work is technical, structured, and backed by proper resource around you.
Why you might move for this
Bigger, more complex work than typical run of the mill commercial projects
Longer pipelines and programmes you can actually get stuck into (less stop/start)
More support around you – wider teams, specialist input, and people who’ve done it before
Career stretch: delivery responsibility, client management, and real ownership (without being thrown in at the deep end) If you’re currently stuck doing packages with limited say, or you’re only seeing one end of the RIBA stages… this gives you more scope and a clearer path.
The work you’ll get involved in
Running parts of projects day-to-day (and stepping up into fuller job running as you grow)
Coordinating consultants and keeping drawings/specs aligned
Working on secure / regulated environments where detail and process matter
Supporting project delivery: design development, technical packages, site input
Keeping communication tight with clients and internal leads Some schemes may require security clearance / vetting – if so, you’ll need to be eligible.
You’ll do well in this if you’ve got
UK-based experience delivering commercial projects (any mix of stages)
Confidence producing technical information and coordinating others
A calm approach when the detail gets heavy
Interest in working on projects with constraints, standards, and proper process
BIM / Revit experience is useful (doesn’t need to be perfect) Next step
If you want the full job pack + benefits (and a quick overview of the team and project types), send me your CV/portfolio and I’ll share everything over.
