Quantity Surveyor
A Electrical sub contractor are actively recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join the team in Aberdeen.
You will manage the commercial and financial delivery of electrical projects from initial cost estimates through to final accounts. Take full ownership of the Quantity Surveying function as the sole QS, working closely with the project team on a variety of domestic, commercial, and industrial schemes in the North East of Scotland.
Role details
Full-time, permanent role based in Blackburn, Aberdeenshire, with occasional travel to sites in Aberdeen and surrounding areas, open to both junior Quantity Surveyors and more experienced professionals who are looking for a 4-day week, with a full UK driving licence and legal right to work in the UK required as sponsorship is not available.
The role
As the Quantity Surveyor you will manage all commercial aspects of electrical projects, ensuring they are delivered within budget and in line with contractual obligations. The role exists due to new contract awards and the need to strengthen commercial control across projects. You will be the only Quantity Surveyor in the business, giving you the scope to shape how the commercial function operates and how it supports the wider team.
What you'll be doing
– Preparing cost estimates and contributing to budgets for electrical projects.
– Preparing and submitting Applications for Payment in line with contractual deadlines and timescales.
– Managing the commercial aspects of subcontractors, including assessment and certification of payment applications.
– Managing variations and agreeing final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
– Identifying contractual risks and opportunities and ensuring the wider team is informed and aligned.
– Building and maintaining strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and the internal project team.
What we're looking for
– Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor for either a main contractor or subcontractor.
– Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying preferred but not essential.
– Experience managing subcontractors, including commercial performance and contract compliance.
– Previous experience within electrical or M&E contracting beneficial but not essential.
– Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
– Strong communication and negotiation skills.
– Self-motivated, organised, and capable of working independently while supporting the wider team.
– Full UK driving licence and legal right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).
