Mechanical Estimator
Mechanical Estimator role | Permanent
When you open the tender documents… and realise the drawings, spec and programme don’t quite agree with each other.
That’s where experience makes the difference.
I’m working with a London M&E contractor looking for a Mechanical Estimator to help price building services projects across commercial, heritage and public sector estates. The work ranges from £20k maintenance jobs through to £500k–£750k projects, with some tenders pushing towards £1m+.
Typical packages include:
HVAC / ventilation
Pipework & plumbing
Plant upgrades • Controls / BMS
Decarbonisation works in live buildings
They’re looking for someone who can:
Review drawings and specs properly (not just measure what’s obvious) • Produce detailed take-offs and competitive estimates
Work with suppliers and subcontractors to build accurate bids
Identify risks, gaps and opportunities in tendersIt’s a £5–6m turnover contractor, so estimators here work closely with the Directors and project delivery teams — not buried in a huge estimating department.
Longer term, the plan is to grow an estimating function around this role.
If you’re a Mechanical Estimator who enjoys working out how a project will actually be delivered — not just pricing what’s on the drawings, it’s worth a conversation.
