Contracts Manager – Solar PV

The Position
They are seeking a Solar PV biased Renewables Contracts Manager to lead end to end delivery of high volume residential and public sector PV and battery programmes.
This role includes full responsibility for:
• Producing solar PV and BESS designs
• Completing DNO applications
• Carrying out all pre-construction activities
• Planning and resourcing in house labour teams
• Overseeing installation, commissioning, quality and handover
This is a technically strong, hands-on contracts management role suited to someone with an electrical background and deep experience in high volume solar PV.
Key Responsibilities
Pre Construction, Design & Technical Leadership
Produce and finalise all PV and battery system designs, including array layouts, mounting plans, inverter selection, string configuration, cable calculations, and system schematics.
Conduct site surveys, feasibility reviews, cable route planning, shading assessments, and structural checks.
Lead the full G98/G99 DNO process including applications, variations, and approvals.
Generate all necessary pre-construction documentation:
RAMS
Programmes
Construction Phase Plans
Resource and labour plans
Material and procurement schedules
Pre start H&S documentation
Validate that designs comply with MCS standards, DNO requirements, client specifications, and BS7671.
Project Delivery & Operational Leadership
Manage all PV and BESS projects from design through commissioning and handover.
Allocate and manage in house installation teams, ensuring correct labour planning and sequencing.
Coordinate scaffolding, access, plant, and specialist subcontractors where required.
Maintain programme performance across multi-site, high volume delivery.
Ensure clear communication with clients, housing officers, tenant liaison officers and internal teams.
Experience & Skills Required
Essential
Strong background in Solar PV project delivery, ideally high volume programmes.
Electrical background (electrician, approved electrician, or electrical engineer).
Ability to produce PV designs without support from a design team.
Strong understanding of inverters, batteries, optimisers, cable calculations and monitoring systems.
Experience managing the full G98/G99 process.
Proven ability to lead in house labour teams across multiple live projects.
Excellent organisation and communication skills
Desirable
Experience within local authority / housing association / NHS environments.
Experience with PAS2030/2035, ECO, retrofit compliance.
SMSTS / SSSTS / IOSH.
Experience commissioning PV and battery systems.
