Site Engineer

We are currently seeking an experienced Freelance Site Engineer to support delivery across a portfolio of highways, cycleway infrastructure, and heavy civil engineering projects. This role is ideal for a proactive engineer with strong setting-out experience and a solid background working on complex infrastructure schemes.

Working closely with the Site Agent and Project Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring works are delivered safely, accurately, and in line with project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

– Setting out and surveying works for highways, cycleway construction, and heavy civils packages

– Interpreting technical drawings and ensuring works are delivered to specification

– Managing QA documentation including ITPs, check sheets, and as-built records

– Coordinating subcontractors and site teams to maintain programme and quality standards

– Carrying out site surveys and producing accurate setting-out data using total stations/GPS equipment

– Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements

– Assisting with temporary works coordination where required

– Supporting progress reporting and site documentation

Requirements

– Proven experience as a Site Engineer within civil engineering projects

– Background in highways, cycleways, or heavy civils infrastructure

– Strong setting-out capability using Leica, Trimble, or similar survey equipment

– Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications

– Experience with QA processes and site documentation

– CSCS Card (essential)

– SMSTS or SSSTS (desirable)

– HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or related discipline
