Site Manager
We are currently seeking 3 experienced Freelance Site Managers to support works delivered under the NGED framework across multiple sites throughout the Midlands. This role will focus primarily on 132kV substation renewals and upgrades, requiring a proactive individual capable of managing multiple work fronts and coordinating project delivery safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
– Oversee day-to-day site operations across multiple substation sites within the Midlands region.
– Manage and supervise works associated with 132kV substation renewals, including civil, electrical and infrastructure elements.
– Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with NGED standards, procedures, and safety requirements.
– Coordinate subcontractors, direct labour, and suppliers to maintain programme and quality standards.
– Conduct site briefings, toolbox talks, and ensure strong health & safety compliance.
– Liaise with project managers, engineers, and client representatives to ensure smooth project delivery.
– Monitor progress across sites and provide regular updates on programme, risks, and resource requirements.
– Maintain site documentation including RAMS, permits, and inspection records.
Requirements
– Proven experience as a Site Manager within the power / utilities sector.
– Demonstrable experience delivering 132kV substation works or high-voltage infrastructure projects.
– Experience managing multiple sites simultaneously.
– Strong understanding of NGED procedures and framework delivery (highly desirable).
– Excellent leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
– Essential Certifications
– SMSTS
– CSCS (Black or Gold Card)
– First Aid at Work
– Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable
– National Grid / DNO experience
– Temporary Works Coordinator
– SSSTS / additional H&S qualifications
