A well-established and growing multi-disciplinary consultancy is seeking an experienced Building Services Director to lead and grow its Building Services team based in Cambridge.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced Mechanical and/or Electrical engineering professional who can combine technical expertise with strong client relationship management and business development skills.

The successful candidate will lead the Cambridge Building Services team, supporting project delivery, developing client relationships and contributing to the wider growth strategy of the business.

Due to the nature of some projects, security clearance may be required.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

• Lead and manage the Building Services team in Cambridge
• Carry out regular performance reviews and identify training and development opportunities for team members
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers and designers within the team
• Support recruitment, team development, mentoring and professional growth
• Work closely with senior leadership to ensure effective resourcing across projects
• Promote and operate within company management systems and procedures
• Assist with the management of project performance including timesheets, invoicing and expenditure
• Take responsibility for identifying and securing project opportunities for the Building Services team
• Build and maintain strong relationships with both existing and prospective clients
• Support wider marketing and business development initiatives
• Ensure designs and specifications meet high standards of quality, accuracy and compliance
• Maintain a strong understanding of the construction industry including contracts, frameworks and building typologies
• Support multi-disciplinary collaboration across the business
• Manage and monitor financial performance of the team and individual projects
• Generate fee income through strong client relationships and new business development

Requirements

• Strong commercial awareness with experience managing financial performance, forecasts and project pipelines
• Proven track record in business development and client relationship management
• Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering or related discipline desirable
• Chartered Engineer status through CIBSE, IMechE or similar professional body preferred
• Demonstrable commitment to continuing professional development
• Strong leadership, communication and team management skills
• Full UK driving licence and access to own transport
