A well-established and growing multi-disciplinary consultancy is seeking an experienced Principal Designer to join its CDM and Building Regulations Principal Designer team.

This role will form a key part of the organisation’s health and safety and compliance services, working closely with project teams and reporting to the Health and Safety Director.

The successful candidate will support the delivery of safe, compliant and well-managed projects across a range of sectors, advising both clients and design teams throughout the project lifecycle.

This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with a background in design and construction to lead projects and play a key role in ensuring compliance with current CDM Regulations and Building Safety requirements.

Due to the nature of some projects, security clearance may be required.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

• Work across both CDM and Building Regulations Principal Designer services
• Support clients and project teams with expert guidance on health and safety compliance
• Fulfil Principal Designer responsibilities across all stages of the project lifecycle
• Coordinate health and safety requirements across design and construction phases
• Ensure effective communication of risk management and compliance documentation
• Act as Building Regulations Principal Designer advisor to internal design teams
• Review and comment on design risk compliance documentation for projects
• Produce, review and maintain Building Safety compliance risk registers and project compliance records
• Undertake periodic site inspections during construction phases as required
• Identify and coordinate activities or design elements that may impact Building Regulations or health and safety compliance
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support safe project delivery

Requirements

• Strong collaborative and communication skills
• Solid technical background in architecture, building surveying, project management or health and safety
• Experience working within CDM regulations and Building Regulations Principal Designer roles
• Relevant professional qualifications within construction, health and safety or design disciplines
• Strong organisational and reporting skills
• Ability to work effectively across multi-disciplinary project teams
