Ehs Manager
Overview
An international contractor delivering large-scale infrastructure and data centre developments is seeking an experienced EHS Manager to lead the Environmental, Health & Safety function on a major data centre construction project in Austria.
This role will take full responsibility for the implementation, management, and continuous improvement of EHS standards across the project. The successful candidate will work closely with project leadership, subcontractors, and client representatives to ensure the highest levels of safety performance are achieved on site.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the Environmental, Health & Safety strategy across the data centre project
*
Implement and manage the project EHS management systems, policies, and procedures
*
Ensure full compliance with local legislation, project requirements, and international best practice
*
Carry out site inspections, audits, and safety reviews to monitor performance and drive improvements
*
Manage and mentor EHS Advisors and junior safety staff on site
*
Review and approve Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
*
Lead the investigation of incidents, accidents, and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented
*
Work closely with project management teams and subcontractors to promote a strong safety culture
*
Deliver safety leadership through training, briefings, and safety initiatives across the project
*
Prepare and present EHS reports and performance metrics to senior management and project stakeholders
Requirements
*
Proven experience as an EHS Manager or Senior EHS Advisor on construction or civil engineering projects
*
Strong experience within large-scale construction, infrastructure, or data centre projects
*
Excellent understanding of construction health & safety legislation and best practices
*
Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence teams at all levels
*
EU Passport – essential due to project location
*
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced international project environment
Desirable
*
Health & Safety qualification such as NEBOSH Diploma, NEBOSH Construction Certificate, or equivalent
*
Professional membership with IOSH or similar professional body
*
Previous experience working on data centre or mission-critical projects
*
Experience managing safety teams on large projects
