Anglian Recruitment are working with a well-established consultancy to recruit a Senior Structural Engineer to join their London office. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys a varied role combining structural surveys, inspections, report writing and structural design across a range of projects.
The role will focus primarily on inspections, surveys and technical reporting, alongside producing structural designs, drawings and specifications for small to medium sized projects. You will work both independently and collaboratively with the wider engineering team, delivering high quality professional services to clients.
Projects will include a broad range of construction types including low rise residential buildings, historic structures, reinforced concrete and steelwork structures.
Due to the nature of some projects, successful applicants may be required to undergo security clearance which may include DBS, BPSS, Counter Terrorist Check, Security Check or Developed Vetting.
The Role
• Carry out structural, condition and measured surveys of buildings and infrastructure assets
• Undertake site inspections and investigations, identifying defects and structural issues
• Produce clear and detailed technical reports based on survey findings
• Support feasibility studies and early stage project assessments
• Design practical and cost-effective structural solutions
• Produce structural calculations, drawings and specifications for projects
• Manage projects from concept design through to completion
• Attend site meetings including pre-start and project progress meetings
• Work closely with architects and design teams to produce coordinated designs
• Monitor project progress, budgets and design changes where required
• Maintain strong relationships with clients and the wider project team
• Assist with preparing fee proposals and supporting new business opportunities
• Promote BIM and 3D design within structural engineering projects
• Ensure projects meet relevant regulations, standards and technical requirements
• Support and mentor junior members of the engineering team
• Assist the team leader in working towards agreed team fee income targets
Requirements
• MEng or BEng degree in Structural Engineering or a related discipline
• Chartered Structural Engineer status with IStructE or ICE
• Strong knowledge of building construction, Building Regulations and relevant legislation
• Experience working on projects ranging from £10k to £50m in value
• Strong technical ability in structural design and assessment
• Excellent written communication skills, particularly for report writing
• Ability to work independently and manage projects effectively
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Willingness to travel for site inspections across London and the South East
