We’re looking for a Design Manager to join a busy main contractor and support the delivery of exciting building projects across Manchester. This is a permanent role offering long-term career progression within a company that genuinely values professional development and internal growth. 

What will you be doing 

You will take ownership of the design process from pre-construction through to project completion, ensuring designs are coordinated, compliant, and delivered on programme. Working closely with project teams, consultants, and subcontractors, you will play a key role in driving quality and managing risk through each scheme. 

Key Responsibilities 

Managing and coordinating the design process from tender through to handover 

Liaising with clients, consultants, architects, and subcontractors 

Reviewing and managing design programmes to ensure project deadlines are met 

Identifying and mitigating design risks and opportunities 

Ensuring compliance with current building regulations and technical standards 

Leading design team meetings and driving collaborative project delivery 

Supporting the commercial and operational teams with design-related matters 

What are they looking for 

Proven experience as a Design Manager within a main contractor environment

Strong understanding of D&B projects across commercial or residential sectors 

Excellent communication, coordination and organizational skills 

Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and drive design programmes 

Technical knowledge of UK building regulations and construction processes 

Relevant construction or design qualification
