Mechanical Design Engineer – M&E
An established and well-respected Mechanical & Electrical contractor operating across London and the South East is looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing design team.
The business delivers mechanical and electrical building services projects across the commercial sector, with project values typically ranging from £100k to £5m.
This role will be based within the company’s South London / Surrey office, working closely with internal design, estimating and project delivery teams.
The Role
The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and coordination of mechanical building services systems, working from the initial design brief through to detailed design for implementation on site.
Key responsibilities include:

Designing mechanical building services systems from architectural drawings and specifications
*
Producing designs for systems including:
*
HVAC
*
Ventilation
*
Heating
*
Comfort cooling
*
Air conditioning
*
Domestic and public health services
*
Working closely with project managers, estimators and BIM/CAD teams
*
Carrying out site visits, surveys and technical meetings
*
Supporting project teams through the design and delivery stages
*
Ensuring designs comply with current industry regulations and standards
Requirements
*
Experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer within Building Services / M&E
*
Experience delivering projects in the region of £100k – £5m
*
Design & Build project experience
*
HNC / HND or Degree in Building Services Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
*
Strong understanding of HVAC and mechanical building services systems
*
Experience using design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Hevacomp or similar
*
Knowledge of BMS and control systems
*
Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
Candidates will ideally have several years’ experience within building services design.

Salary £60,000 – £75,000 depending on experience

Location
The role is based within the company’s South London / Surrey office, with occasional travel to project sites across London and the South East.
