D7 and recruiting a Principal Designer (PD) is a key, legally required role under CDM 2015 regulations, responsible for planning, managing, and coordinating health and safety during the pre-construction phase of a project. Appointed by the client, they ensure designers eliminate risks and cooperate with contractors to ensure safety. D7 Recruitment is actively sourcing for this role, with positions available in construction and manufacturing in the Midlands

Location: Midlands / Hybrid ( Must be prepared to travel when needed )
Salary: £55,000 – £65,000
Core Responsibilities of a Principal Designer
* Safety Planning: Managing, monitoring, and coordinating health and safety from the initial concept design through to the construction phase.
* Risk Management: Eliminating, reducing, or controlling potential hazards by working with other designers.
* Information Gathering: Assisting the client in gathering pre-construction information, such as health and safety files, and sharing it with contractors.
* Compliance: Ensuring the design team has the necessary skills, knowledge, and experience to fulfil their roles.
* Collaboration: Acting as the main point of liaison between the client and the principal contractor regarding design risks.
We have a range of projects underway across the West Midlands, supporting an appointed PD as they deliver construction programmes for some of the UK's leading Automotive and Food/Beverage Producers with their factory and facilities upgrades and new builds. We also have major projects underway at one of largest airports in the Midlands – so any Aviation experience would be very welcome.
