M&E Project Manager – Water Infrastructure
Location: Bristol / South West
We're working in partnership with a leading Tier 1 contractor to recruit an experienced M&E Project Manager to support the delivery of major water projects across the South West.
Operating within long-term framework programmes, you will lead the delivery of mechanical and electrical installation packages across a portfolio of infrastructure and non-infrastructure schemes. These projects play a critical role in maintaining and improving essential water and wastewater services for communities across the region.
This role is ideal for an M&E project professional who enjoys working in technically complex environments and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
The Role
As M&E Project Manager, you will take responsibility for the successful planning and delivery of mechanical and electrical works across water infrastructure projects.
You will oversee the full project lifecycle from pre-construction planning through installation, commissioning and handover, ensuring all M&E elements are delivered safely, on programme and within budget.
Working closely with civil teams, design teams, commercial teams and specialist subcontractors, you will ensure seamless coordination between disciplines and maintain strong client relationships throughout project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the delivery of mechanical and electrical works across water infrastructure projects
Lead projects from planning and procurement through installation and commissioning
Coordinate M&E subcontractors, suppliers and specialist installation teams
Ensure works are delivered safely, on programme and within budget
Develop installation strategies, construction methodologies and delivery plans
Work closely with civil and engineering teams to ensure effective integration of works
Monitor programme performance and implement corrective actions where required
Manage project risks, technical challenges and design coordination issues
Support commercial teams with cost management, change control and forecasting
Attend and lead project progress meetings, site reviews and client meetings
Ensure compliance with technical specifications, quality standards and contract requirements
Oversee testing, commissioning and handover processes
Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and delivery teams
About You
You will be an experienced M&E Project Manager with a background delivering mechanical and electrical installations within infrastructure, utilities or industrial environments.
Essential
Proven experience delivering M&E packages on infrastructure or utilities projects
Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical installation processes
Experience managing subcontractors and specialist supply chain partners
Experience delivering projects within regulated sectors such as water, utilities or energy
Good understanding of construction contracts (NEC preferred)
Strong leadership and team coordination skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
Ability to manage programme, risk and delivery across complex projectsDesirable
Experience delivering M&E works on water or wastewater treatment projects
Degree or qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Building Services
SMSTS, CSCS or relevant site management certifications
Experience working on AMP water framework projects
