Job Title: Production / Factory Manager

Role Overview

The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing daily factory operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality production of units. The role includes managing production teams, maintaining health and safety standards, coordinating materials and logistics, and monitoring performance through reporting and KPIs.

The position requires strong leadership, operational planning, and a commitment to continuous improvement across production processes.

Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety

Maintain responsibility for daily health and safety for yourself and your team in accordance with company procedures.

Conduct regular shop floor audits covering health and safety, progress, quality, and procedures.

Carry out multiple daily walkaround inspections of exits, walkways, scaffolding, edge protection, and general housekeeping.

Ensure the factory environment is clean, organised, and free from hazards.

Production & Operations

Oversee all factory and site staff responsible for the build and assembly of units.

Ensure production targets, build quality, and delivery schedules are achieved.

Monitor production statistics and report performance to the wider management team.

Coordinate with external transport providers to plan collections and deliveries.

Ensure units are prepared and ready for dispatch on agreed collection dates.

Technical & Quality Control

Produce AutoCAD panel and fabrication drawings for factory cutting and assembly.

Ensure dimensional and visual quality checks are carried out throughout the build process.

Ensure units meet required standards and are prepared for inspections.

Work with inspectors to ensure compliance with required certifications and standards.

Planning & Procurement

Produce material requisitions and submit them to the purchasing team for procurement.

Work with supervisors to plan labour and materials for short- and medium-term production requirements.

Oversee the stores department to ensure materials are monitored, restocked, and reordered when required.

Performance Management & Reporting

Attend monthly management meetings and present production statistics including:

Targets vs actual performance

Delivery schedules

Planning updates

Feedback and improvement actions

KPIs and operational metrics

Prepare monthly board reports outlining performance, challenges, improvements, and future planning.

Work with the wider leadership team to develop, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs).

Team Leadership & Development

Manage and support the supervisor team through regular production meetings.

Promote a positive team culture through motivation, recognition, and feedback.

Monitor absenteeism and address concerns in line with HR policies and procedures.

Conduct disciplinary meetings when required in accordance with company policies.

Ensure staff training is planned and delivered for machinery, tools, and production processes.

Maintenance & Compliance

Ensure machinery, lifting equipment, and factory certifications are maintained and up to date.

Coordinate periodic servicing and maintenance of equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation
