Property Inspector
Adecco are recruiting for a Property Inspector on behalf of the London Borough of Newham.
This is an excellent opportunity to join the council's Housing Supply service, supporting the inspection and management of temporary accommodation and helping ensure residents are living in safe, compliant homes.
Location: On-site, Newham
Contract Type: Temporary
Hours: Full-time, Monday – Friday
Pay Rate: £21.41 per hour PAYE / £27.91 per hour UMBRELLA
The Role
As a Property Inspector, you will play a key role in ensuring temporary accommodation properties meet required safety and compliance standards. You will carry out property inspections, identify repair defects and fire safety concerns, and liaise with providers to ensure issues are resolved promptly.
You will also work closely with residents, providing advice and support where required while maintaining accurate records using council systems.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct regular inspections across the council's portfolio of temporary accommodation properties.
Identify and report repair defects, maintenance issues, and fire safety concerns.
Prepare detailed inspection reports and ensure required repairs are completed within agreed timescales.
Respond to enquiries and concerns from residents via phone, email, and in person.
Carry out home visits and resident interviews where necessary.
Provide residents with advice regarding fire safety and housing compliance.
Maintain accurate records and update housing data using relevant IT systems.
Manage and respond to enquiries and complaints from residents and elected members.
Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to deliver excellent housing services.
Support vulnerable residents by liaising with appropriate support networks and services where required.About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Experience working within property management, housing, or inspection environments.
Experience conducting property inspections and identifying building defects.
Knowledge of building regulations, health and safety legislation, and fire safety requirements.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to prioritise workload and manage competing deadlines.
Experience using IT systems and maintaining accurate records.
