A well-established and growing specialist Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) contractor based in Dartford is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of multiple projects across the social housing sector.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor looking to step into a senior position with real influence, working closely with company directors and operational teams to drive commercial performance across a growing project portfolio.

The Role

You will take responsibility for the commercial management of projects from pre-contract through to final account, ensuring strong financial control while maintaining excellent relationships with clients and supply chain partners.

Working closely with Directors, Contracts Managers and operational teams, you will play a central role in protecting the commercial position of the business while supporting its continued growth.

Key responsibilities will include:

Leading the commercial management of multiple projects from tender through to final account

Creating and maintaining project forecasts, budgets and cashflow

Acting as the primary commercial contact for clients

Preparing interim valuations, applications for payment and priced schedules

Managing and agreeing variations and change control

Reviewing and assessing subcontractor applications

Negotiating and agreeing final accounts

Providing commercial input at tender and pre-contract stages

Undertaking contract take-offs and preparing scopes of work

Leading commercial negotiations with clients, subcontractors and suppliers

Producing weekly and monthly commercial performance reports

Attending client progress and commercial meetings

Additional Responsibilities

As a senior member of the commercial team, you will also:

Provide commercial leadership and best practice

Support and mentor junior commercial staff as the business grows

Work closely with Directors, Contracts Managers, Site Managers and production teams to manage cost, risk and change

Lead commercial and cost review meetings

Contribute to the development and improvement of commercial systems, controls and procedures

Build and maintain strong client relationships to support repeat business and future project awards

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry

Experience delivering large-scale projects

Experience working within social housing, local authorities or housing associations

Strong knowledge of construction contracts

A degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying

Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills

Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities

Strong organisational and planning skills

The ability to work both independently and within a team environment

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office

A full UK driving licence

Experience within FRA or fire safety related works would be beneficial but is not essential.
