Freelance Mechanical Supervisor

Kenton Black are recruiting for an experienced Freelance Mechanical Supervisor to support a leading MEP subcontractor on a major development in Dundee. This role is offered on a 4-month contract basis, with an immediate start available.

The client is a well-established building services subcontractor delivering high-quality mechanical installations across commercial, residential, and large-scale accommodation projects

Key Responsibilities:

– Oversee day-to-day mechanical installation activities on site, ensuring all works are delivered safely, compliantly, and to specification
– Manage and coordinate mechanical operatives, subcontractors, and daily work fronts
– Support progress against programme, sequencing, and short-term planning
– Ensure all mechanical works comply with drawings, RAMS, industry standards, and site H&S requirements
– Liaise closely with the site management team, client representatives, and other trades to maintain smooth coordination
– Monitor quality of installations, carry out inspections, and resolve technical or installation issues as they arise
– Maintain accurate daily records, progress updates, and reports for the project team
– Proactively drive productivity and ensure deadlines are achieved within the required quality parameters

What You Bring:

– Proven experience as a Mechanical Supervisor or Mechanical Chargehand on large residential, accommodation, or commercial projects
– Strong understanding of mechanical building services installations (heating, ventilation, domestic services, plant equipment)
– Ability to coordinate multiple teams and maintain momentum on a fast-paced site
– Excellent communication and leadership skills with a hands-on, proactive approach
– Strong knowledge of H&S requirements and safe systems of work
– Valid CSCS card, SSSTS/SMSTS, relevant mechanical trade background essential
