We are seeking an experienced Marine Project Manager to lead the delivery of marine civils works for a major infrastructure contractor. This is a permanent position with a long-term career path, offering the opportunity to work across a portfolio of marine and waterfront infrastructure schemes.

The initial project is likely to be based in Barking, and we are particularly interested in candidates located within Kent, Bexleyheath, Barking or surrounding areas who are able to support delivery of projects across the South East.

The role will focus on the successful management and delivery of river wall and reinforced concrete marine structures, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

▪ Management and oversight of all day-to-day marine construction activities including river wall construction, reinforced concrete works, marine plant operations and associated civils packages.

▪ Ensuring all operations adhere to legislative requirements and company standards for health, safety, environmental and quality procedures, while delivering works within programme and budget.

▪ Development and management of project programmes, ensuring works are planned effectively and delivered in line with project milestones.

▪ Management of on-site supervisors, engineers, marine crews, subcontractors and specialist marine contractors.

▪ Management of Health, Safety, Environment and wellbeing on site including RAMS preparation, marine risk assessments, permits, site briefings and strict adherence to marine safety procedures.

▪ Coordination and management of river wall construction, concrete structures, cofferdams, piling and marine-based civils works.

▪ Strong understanding of commercial management, including cost forecasting, tracking project performance and working alongside commercial teams to maintain project budgets.

▪ Management of project risk and opportunity, working closely with commercial and technical teams to mitigate risks and drive programme efficiency.

▪ Liaison with stakeholders including the client, regulators, marine authorities and environmental bodies to ensure works are compliant and delivered successfully.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

▪ Proven experience delivering marine civil engineering projects, specifically river walls, quay walls, coastal structures or similar marine infrastructure.

▪ Strong understanding and experience of reinforced concrete construction within marine or tidal environments.

▪ Ability to produce and manage construction programmes and coordinate project delivery accordingly.

▪ Strong commercial awareness, including experience with cost forecasting, project budgets and financial performance.

▪ Thorough understanding of NEC3 / NEC4 contracts and associated commercial processes.

▪ Demonstrable experience managing multidisciplinary teams including engineers, supervisors and specialist marine subcontractors.

Desirable:

▪ Knowledge of marine plant operations, temporary works and marine logistics.

▪ Strong stakeholder management skills with experience liaising with clients, regulatory bodies and environmental agencies.

▪ Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to drive teams and deliver projects successfully.

▪ A proactive, solutions-focused attitude with the ability to manage challenges in complex marine environments.
