Senior Construction Planner

O'Neill & Brennan – Taunton

Senior Construction Planner Bristol (Hybrid with 1 day/week on site) £60,000 – £80,000 + Car Allowance + Excellent Benefits

We are delighted to be working exclusively with a leading Tier 1 main contractor to recruit an experienced Senior Construction Planner to join their established team in Bristol.

This is a key role within a busy, high-performing planning department, supporting a strong pipeline of major construction projects across the South West and beyond. Our client is currently tendering actively, with 4-5 significant tenders expected in the next 6 months, delivering schemes valued between £50 million and £200 million+. Projects may be located anywhere within approximately 100 miles of Bristol.

About the Role As a Senior Construction Planner, you will take full ownership of programme development from concept through to execution. You will work closely with the project delivery teams to produce realistic, buildable programmes that reflect true construction sequencing and durations.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading the production of tender programmes
Preparing Bills of Quantities
Developing scaffold schedules
Creating comprehensive programmes from initial drawings and specifications
Understanding and applying realistic construction timelines and build sequences
Supporting live projects and contributing to programme updates, risk analysis, and progress reporting
This is not a pure software-focused role — we are seeking someone with deep construction knowledge who truly understands how buildings come together on site and takes genuine pride in delivering high-quality, invested planning work.

What We're Looking For

Minimum 10 years' experience as a Construction Planner on major building/main contracting projects
Strong practical understanding of construction processes, sequencing, and build durations
A construction-related degree (or equivalent qualification) is highly desirable
Experience producing Bills of Quantities, scaffold schedules, and full tender programmes
Pride in your work and a proactive, invested approach to the schemes you support
Familiarity with Primavera P6 is beneficial but not essential — construction insight is the priority
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
Full UK driving licence (due to site travel requirements)
Location & Working Arrangement

Based in Bristol offices
Hybrid working available
Expectation of one day per week on site (projects within ~100 miles radius)
Package

Competitive salary: £60,000 – £80,000 (highly negotiable depending on experience)
Car allowance: £450 per month
Holiday: 26 days per year starting, increasing to 30 days over time
Pension: 6% employee contribution with generous 8% employer contribution
Additional benefits (to be discussed)
If you are a hands-on, construction-passionate Senior Planner looking for your next challenge with a respected Tier 1 contractor and a solid forward workload, we would love to hear from you.
