Our client is seeking an experienced Rail Operations Manager to lead and shape their renewed presence within the Irish rail sector.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for a respected rail professional with strong sector knowledge and an established stakeholder network across the Irish rail industry.
Our client is a well-established rail business operating extensively across the UK, supporting Tier 1 infrastructure contractors on major programmes. As many of these contractors continue to pursue and secure work in Ireland, this role will play a critical part in strengthening local relationships, supporting market entry, and building a credible long-term presence.
The position focuses on sector leadership, operational insight, and stakeholder engagement within the Irish rail environment.
Location: Ireland
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Highly competitive basic salary plus performance bonus DOE
Role & Responsibilities
* Lead our client’s operations within Ireland and take full responsibility for the Irish business unit P&L
* Provide strategic insight into Irish Rail structures, governance frameworks, and delivery models
* Build and maintain senior stakeholder relationships across Irish Rail, contractors, and the wider rail supply chain
* Offer informed guidance on upcoming infrastructure investment programmes and project pipelines
* Represent the organisation at rail industry forums, sector events, and strategic engagements
* Support the Executive leadership team in developing and delivering a credible long-term strategy in Ireland
* Contribute to the development and leadership of a high-performing local team
Essential Criteria – What We Are Looking For
* Extensive experience within the Irish rail sector
* In-depth understanding of Irish Rail governance structures, delivery frameworks, and operational environment
* Strong and established professional network across Irish Rail, contractors, and key sector stakeholders
* Proven experience working within complex infrastructure programmes
* Strategic awareness of rail investment plans and upcoming infrastructure opportunities
* Strong leadership capability and the ability to influence senior decision-makers
About You
We are seeking experienced rail professionals who are currently active within the Irish rail sector and bring strong operational knowledge of the industry.
You will demonstrate:
* A detailed understanding of Irish Rail’s operating environment, governance, and delivery structures
* A well-established network of industry stakeholders and decision-makers across the rail sector
* Experience managing and maintaining relationships within complex infrastructure programmes
* Strong awareness of rail investment plans, programme pipelines, and sector priorities
Commercial awareness is important. However, this role does not require a traditional sales or business development background. The key success factors are sector expertise, trusted industry relationships, and the ability to provide strategic leadership within the Irish rail market.
