Location: Stevenage (Hybrid: 3-4 days office/site,)

Salary: £80,000 + package Project Values: £10m-£20m

Role Overview

A leading building services contractor is seeking an experienced M&E Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of mechanical and electrical packages across major projects ranging from £10m to £20m. The role combines office-based commercial management with regular site presence to ensure accurate cost control, contract compliance, and strong commercial outcomes.

You'll join a growing commercial team working on high‑profile schemes, with the autonomy to manage your own workload while contributing to wider project strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the commercial and financial aspects of M&E packages from pre‑construction through to final account.

Prepare and manage cost plans, valuations, variations, and monthly commercial reports.

Lead subcontract procurement, negotiation, and contract administration.

Monitor project performance, identifying risks, opportunities, and cost-saving measures.

Work closely with project managers, design teams, and site teams to ensure accurate forecasting and cost control.

Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company commercial procedures.

Support the preparation of applications for payment and manage client-facing commercial communication.

Conduct site visits to verify progress, assess change, and maintain strong commercial oversight.

Skills & Experience

Proven experience as an M&E Quantity Surveyor within building services or a main M&E contractor.

Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, procurement routes, and commercial processes.

Track record of managing packages or projects in the £10m-£20m range.

Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative commercial team.

Strong analytical and reporting skills with attention to detail.

Familiarity with standard forms of contract (NEC, JCT).
