THE ROLE

To lead and manage the document control function across the project ensuring that all project documentation is accurately registered, controlled, and accessible throughout the project lifecycle. The Senior Document Controller will act as the subject matter expert for document management systems, oversee the performance and development of document controllers, and ensure compliance with Alliance, Client and Regulatory requirements. The role requires close coordination with the wider Project Team to support the delivery of a fully assured and traceable information set for Sizewell C.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead, mentor, and coordinate the project document control team, ensuring consistent performance and adherence to procedures.

Act as the primary point of contact for all document control matters within the project.

Manage document control activities in accordance with internal procedures, the Business Management System, and contractual client requirements.

Ensure accurate control of documentation from design, pre‑construction, and construction through to completion and handover.

Work proactively with project managers, engineering leads, and planners to ensure deliverables forecasts (TIDP/MIDP) are prepared, maintained, and adhered to.

Ensure that project teams and subcontractors understand document control requirements and follow correct submission protocols.

Oversee the configuration, use, and continuous improvement of document management systems (e.g., SharePoint, A-Site, ProjectWise).

Provide training, coaching, and troubleshooting support to project teams on document control processes and systems.

Participate in internal and external project meetings to ensure decisions and actions align with document control procedures.

Produce document control reporting and support reporting for the wider Project Team.

Manage business archiving to ensure documentation is stored efficiently and always remains accessible and referenceable.

Identify and implement opportunities for improvement within the document control process and wider information management practices.

Support audit readiness and contribute to lessons learned and best‑practice development across the alliance.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:

Significant experience in document control within the construction or engineering sector.

Strong understanding of IT and Microsoft Office applications, including SharePoint.

Experience using or administering electronic document management systems (e.g. A-Site, ProjectWise).

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders.

Excellent planning and organisation skills.

Determination to see tasks through to completion with high attention to detail.

Excellent understanding of how document control supports wider project operations and decision-making.

Desirable:

Experience in a senior or supervisory document control role.

Experience working within an Alliance or multi-partner delivery environment.

Understanding of ISO 19650 and its application to document control.

Driving Licence.

Formal qualification in information management, construction management, or a related discipline
