Project Manager – Highways Specialist Contractor
Location: UK site based role with travel to project locations
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 plus company car and private healthcare
A well-established specialist subcontractor operating within the highways and infrastructure sector is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their growing team.
This is a varied and hands-on role involving the management and support of projects across multiple highway sites. The successful candidate will ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with required specifications while maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors and site teams.
The Role
The Project Manager will oversee the delivery of specialist works on highways projects. The role involves regular travel to sites to ensure projects are progressing as planned and any technical or operational issues are resolved quickly.
Key responsibilities include managing the delivery of multiple highway projects from start to completion, travelling to sites to support teams and resolve technical or operational issues, and coordinating with main contractors, site managers and engineers.
The Project Manager will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to specification while maintaining high health and safety standards across all sites. The role will also involve managing subcontractors and site teams, providing progress updates and reports to senior management, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Candidate Requirements
Candidates should have experience working within the highways, civil engineering or infrastructure sector. Previous experience in a Project Manager, Site Manager or Senior Engineer position is required.
The successful candidate will have strong organisational and problem-solving skills, the ability to manage multiple sites and priorities, and excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. A full UK driving licence is essential, along with the willingness to travel to project locations as required.
Desirable Experience
Experience working for a specialist subcontractor would be advantageous. Knowledge of highways specifications and standards and an SMSTS or similar site management qualification would also be beneficial.
Package
