Mechanical Estimator
1st Step Solutions are recruiting on behalf of our client, a growing Building Services contractor, for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to support tendering activity across a range of mechanical projects.
Mechanical Estimator
Location: Hybrid / Shrewsbury Head Office + Client Sites
Salary: Circa £53k to £60k package
This role will see you preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical building services works, working closely with the Design & Estimating team to support successful project delivery.
The Role
Prepare detailed mechanical take-offs from drawings and specifications
Price labour, materials and plant in line with tender strategy
Build prelims, risk allowances and value engineering options
Issue RFQs to suppliers and subcontractors and analyse quotations
Prepare tender clarifications, exclusions and assumptions
Support tender submissions and provide a clear handover to delivery teams
Work collaboratively with estimators, designers and commercial teamsRequirements
Minimum 5 years experience estimating within Mechanical Building Services
Strong understanding of HVAC, LTHW/CHW systems, public health and mechanical installations
Experience preparing take-offs, cost plans and tender submissions
Familiarity with estimating software and cost databases
HNC / HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services
Willingness to travel to client and prospect sites when required
