Senior Quantity Surveyor
We are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our UK Infrastructure Business Unit to take full commercial responsibility and ownership for the project. Working closely with the Contracts Manager, Project Manager and construction team, you will ensure a successful project is delivered whilst maintaining relationships, maximising commercial returns and managing risk.
Responsibilities
* Integrate the commercial strategy, amending to suit the project as it develops
* Liaise with and commercially influence and challenge other members of the team and the construction process
* Take ownership for, administer and represent the company in all commercial and contractual issues, including:
* Preparing tenders, analysing and selecting appropriate subcontractors, finalising subcontract orders and financially and commercially managing through to Final Account completion
* Preparing and agreeing valuations, including generating certificates and invoice/payment documentation
* Updating projected Final Accounts on a regular basis and preparing, submitting and agreeing Final Accounts in a timely manner
* Take responsibility for control of traditional contracts and contracts over £15m
* Manage the recording and submission of claims in respect of delay and loss/expense, formulating detailed arguments and making representation to the relevant parties
Skills and Qualifications
* NEC contract administration
* Legal appreciation and overview of construction law
* Commitment to CPD — keeping up to date with legislation and industry trends
* CVR appreciation and financial reporting
* Strong presentation and communication skills
* Ability to manage both people and situations sensitively and to commercial advantage
* Commercially inventive and astute with a proactive approach to risk and opportunity management
