The Role
As HSQE Advisor, you will play a key role in ensuring that the highest standards of Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental compliance are maintained across a portfolio of civil engineering projects.
You will work closely with operational teams, management and supply chain partners to promote a positive safety culture, provide practical guidance, and ensure legislative and company standards are met and continuously improved.
This is a hands-on, visible role requiring regular site presence and proactive engagement with project teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure full compliance with HSQE standards, company procedures and UK legislation.
* Provide practical HSQE support and guidance to site management and operational teams.
* Conduct site inspections, audits and compliance reviews across multiple projects.
* Lead and support incident and accident investigations, producing detailed reports and identifying corrective actions
* Monitor and review risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
* Support the development and delivery of toolbox talks, briefings and awareness sessions.
* Assist in driving continuous improvement initiatives across health, safety, quality and environmental performance.
* Promote a proactive safety culture through visible leadership and engagement.
* Liaise with clients and external stakeholders on HSQE matters when required.
* Maintain accurate documentation and reporting in line with internal and external requirements.
Candidate Requirements
* Previous experience in an HSQE role within construction or civil engineering.
* Strong working knowledge of UK HSQE legislation and industry best practice.
* Experience conducting audits, inspections and incident investigations.
* Ability to influence and engage operational teams at all levels.
* Strong communication, organisational and report-writing skills.
* Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel between sites.
Desirable
* Chartered status or working towards (e.g., IOSH, IEMA or equivalent).
* Experience working on water or utilities projects.
* Experience within civil engineering frameworks or infrastructure environments
