Structural Engineer
Our client is seeking an experienced Civil Structural Engineer
Location: Dover, Kent
Hours: Full or part time
Salary: Up to £50,000 DOE + Excellent Benefits
We’re looking for a talented Civil Structural Engineer to join a forward‑thinking engineering team. This role works in one of the UK’s most unique and diverse asset portfolios from bridges and highways to piers, quays, and breakwaters.
The Role
As a Civil Structural Engineer, you’ll act as an internal technical consultant, reviewing and advising on designs, specifications, and engineering documentation to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and industry best practice.
You’ll support the delivery of condition inspections, assess asset performance, and use your engineering judgement to develop sustainable maintenance and repair strategies. You’ll also stay engaged with emerging technologies, materials, and design methodologies to help drive continuous improvement across our engineering standards.
Civil Structural Engineer Key Responsibilities
* Review and approve design briefs, specifications, drawings, and contract documentation
* Act as technical authority across a range of infrastructure projects
* Assess consultant designs for safety, compliance, sustainability, and cost‑effectiveness
* Collaborate with consultants, contractors, and internal teams to resolve technical issues
* Support continuous improvement in engineering governance and standards
Civil Structural Engineer skills/experience
* Degree in Civil Engineering (BSc/BEng) or equivalent
* Minimum 3 years’ post‑graduate experience in Civil/Structural Engineering
* Ideally working towards MICE, MStructE, or equivalent
* Strong understanding of relevant codes, standards, and best practice
* Excellent communication skills with the confidence to challenge and influence
* Proficient in Microsoft Office
* Valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
