Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Are you an Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to build your career within a busy and growing retail construction specialist?
We are working with a well-established contractor delivering retail fit-out and refurbishment projects across the UK. Known for their expertise in fast-track, live retail environments, they provide a full turnkey service including construction, M&E, and refrigeration.
Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team, based out of their Leeds office.
The Role
This is an office-based position where you will support the commercial delivery of multiple retail projects, typically ranging from £300k to £1 million. You will work closely with the Commercial Manager, Quantity Surveyors, and Contracts Managers, gaining exposure across the full project lifecycle.
A key part of this role will involve assisting the Commercial Manager and Quantity Surveyors in developing and expanding two of the company's major client accounts, supporting ongoing project delivery while helping to drive further growth and opportunity within these relationships.

Key duties will include:
Assisting with cost planning, budgeting, and financial control
Supporting the preparation of interim valuations and final accounts
Assisting in the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers
Managing subcontractor payments and variations
Supporting monthly cost reporting and CVRs
Reviewing drawings and project specifications
Liaising with site teams to track project progress and costs
Assisting in identifying and managing commercial risks
Supporting the Commercial Manager in maintaining and growing key client accounts
Projects
You will be involved in a variety of retail-focused schemes, including:
Retail fit-outs and refurbishments
Food retail and convenience store projects
Multi-site rollout programmes
Live trading environment works
Project values typically range from £300k to £1 million and are delivered on fast-track programmes across the UK.
Requirements
A degree in Quantity Surveying or similar level
Strong numerical and analytical skills
Good understanding of commercial processes and cost control
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general IT systems
Excellent communication and organisational skills
A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop
