I'm currently working on behalf of a leading global construction consultancy to recruit an experienced Senior Cost Consultant to join their growing Life Sciences & Research team across the UK.

The Opportunity

My client is expanding their specialist Cost Management team within the Life Sciences and Research sector, supporting the delivery of cutting-edge laboratories, R&D facilities and complex technical environments for high-profile national and international clients.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in a diverse portfolio of projects, ranging from large-scale flagship developments to smaller, highly impactful schemes. You'll play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, on time and within budget, while contributing to innovative and sustainable outcomes.

The Role

As a Senior Cost Consultant, you will provide full pre- and post-contract Quantity Surveying services across a range of technically complex projects throughout the UK and Europe, with a focus on London, Oxford and Cambridge.
Your responsibilities will include:

Preparing cost plans, estimates and feasibility studies
Supporting procurement strategies and tender processes
Reviewing and negotiating contractor submissions
Managing project costs through to final account
Benchmarking and advising on cost efficiency
Working closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams to deliver successful outcomes
You will have the opportunity to take projects from initial concept through to completion, while also contributing to the development of junior team members.

About You

My client is looking for someone who is commercially astute, technically strong and passionate about delivering high-quality results. You'll ideally bring:

MRICS Chartered status
Strong knowledge of cost planning and commercial management
Experience delivering complex construction projects (ideally within Life Sciences, R&D, or MEP-heavy environments)
Proven ability to manage projects from inception to completion
Excellent stakeholder and client-facing skills
Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members
Familiarity with digital cost tools such as CostX, 5D BIM and benchmarking systems

Why Apply?

You'll be joining a collaborative, forward-thinking consultancy that is committed to delivering sustainable, innovative solutions across the built environment. The business offers clear career progression, exposure to high-profile projects, and the chance to be part of a team shaping the future of science and technology infrastructure.
