Tendering Manager
In this role you will lead the preparation and management of national and international tenders within the UK’s High Voltage (HV) transmission sector. You will evaluate competitive technical and economic solutions, ensuring high-quality submissions, strict adherence to deadlines, and strategic alignment with client requirements. Your role is to integrate risks, margins, and innovative opportunities to maximize the probability of award for complex EPC projects.
Role Responsibilities
Tender Strategy & Coordination
* Coordinate the end-to-end preparation of technical and economic bids for HV substations, grid stability projects and battery energy storage systems.
* Analyse tender documentation to identify critical technical, contractual, and cost-related requirements.
* Lead and organize the tender team, distributing responsibilities and monitoring timelines to meet strict deadlines.
Financial & Risk Management
* Build and validate the final pricing model, evaluating risks and proposing commercial margins in decision-making meetings with senior management.
* Report on technical, commercial, and economic risks, identifying our competitive strengths and weaknesses in the UK market.
Stakeholder & Supply Chain Management
* Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors (civil works, equipment manufacturers) to validate prices, lead times, and terms.
* Collaborate cross-functionally with Internal Areas: Engineering, Legal, Procurement, Quality, Health & Safety (PRL), and HR.
* Maintain technical-commercial relationships with clients, providing expert advice to differentiate our proposals beyond just price.
Post-Submission & Handover
* Manage post-tender queries, price revisions, and contract negotiations alongside the Legal team.
* Upon contract award, lead the "handover" of all information to the Production/Project Management team to ensure a seamless transition.
Candidate Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree level education Engineer (Electrical/Civil) plus strong IT proficiency
* Extensive background in EPC tender with transmission or large infrastructure.
* Essential sector knowledge within HV transmission, substation, or large EPC energy projects
* Confident communicator with strong leadership and negotiation & presentation skills
* Able to manage deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
