HSQE Manager – Steel Construction

We are working with a well-established and reputable steel construction company seeking an experienced HSQE Manager to support both office operations and live project sites. This is a key role focused on driving high standards across Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental compliance within a fast-paced project environment.
The Role
As HSQE Manager, you will take ownership of the company's HSQE function, ensuring compliance, improving processes, and promoting a strong safety culture across all projects. You will be based in the Basingstoke office, with regular visits to project sites, typically across London.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage all Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental activities across the business
Ensure compliance with current legislation, company procedures, and industry standards
Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments across live projects
Review and support the preparation of RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements)
Complete and manage environmental documentation, ensuring compliance with environmental standards and project requirements
Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
Promote a strong health & safety culture across both site and office teams
Maintain and improve HSQE systems, policies, and procedures
Support project teams with best practice and continuous improvement initiatives
Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies as required
About You
Proven experience in a HSQE role within construction or structural steel (essential)
Strong working knowledge of health & safety and environmental legislation
Experience producing and managing environmental documentation (essential)
Experience carrying out site audits, inspections, and incident investigations
Confident working across both office and site environments
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage teams
Proactive, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities
