Your new role
The Commercial team sits at the heart of delivering exceptional homes with smart, efficient cost management. Responsible for everything from surveying and estimating to procurement and materials strategy, they ensure every development delivers outstanding quality and value.
By overseeing material choices, cost control, customer impact, sales considerations, and other essential commercial drivers, this team – made up of skilled Estimators, Quantity Surveyors, and Material buyers – works with one clear mission: to create high‑quality homes at the best possible cost. Their work powers the organisation's success and offers a dynamic, fast‑moving environment where commercial creativity and strategic thinking truly make an impact.
Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, this role leads a team of talented surveyors and takes ownership of multiple developments, including regeneration projects and complex multi‑phase schemes. From driving budgets and valuations to delivering accurate monthly cost forecasts, they ensure targets are met, and financial performance is optimised. They hold full responsibility for subcontractor processes and, when required, materials procurement – always operating with complete adherence to organisational policies.
Beyond the numbers, this role plays a key part in shaping the future of the team: mentoring individuals at all stages of their careers and championing value‑engineering initiatives that help the organisation stay ahead of the market. What you'll need
A similar tier-1 background is preferred.
House build experience is essential alongside previous experience managing a commercial team.
Well-versed with commercial software, including COINS, Excel, and is adept at creating and implementing cost plan templates.
