Role Overview
The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will support the commercial and financial management of projects, working closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor and project teams. The role covers both pre-construction activities such as tendering and estimating, and live project delivery including valuations, variations, procurement, and cost reporting.
This is a dynamic opportunity offering hands-on experience and structured development within a high-performing team environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the preparation of Bills of Quantities, schedules of works, and tender submissions including measuring, cost planning, and value engineering.
* Assist with competitive and negotiated tenders, ensuring accurate financial input and application of current market rates.
* Support the commercial management of live projects, including valuations, interim applications, and final accounts.
* Manage variations, change orders, and subcontractor accounts while monitoring project costs, cash flow, and budgets.
* Undertake site visits to assess progress, quality, and completed works.
* Support procurement of subcontractors and materials, and provide cost advice and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
* Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a similar construction or commercial discipline.
* Ideally 2–4 years’ experience, with exposure to high-quality residential projects preferred.
* Strong numerical and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail.
* Confident communicator with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, clients, and subcontractors.
* Dynamic, proactive, and eager to develop under the guidance of a Senior Quantity Surveyor.
* Organised and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
