Senior Geotechnical Engineer
The Company
A well-established, multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy in the South West is continuing its growth and is looking to appoint a Senior Geotechnical / Geo-Environmental Engineer to join its close-knit and collaborative team.
Working on some of the region’s most complex and technically demanding sites, the consultancy is trusted to deliver robust geotechnical and environmental solutions across projects shaped by coastline, terrain, and challenging ground conditions. Their portfolio spans bespoke residential and commercial developments, infrastructure schemes, coastal works, and environmentally sensitive sites — often requiring close integration with civil and structural engineering teams.
This is a business that places real value on technical excellence, sound engineering judgement, and professionals who enjoy diverse, project-led work rather than repetitive, volume-driven delivery.
The Role
As a Senior Geotechnical / Geo-Environmental Engineer, you’ll play a key role in leading project delivery while supporting the development of junior team members. You’ll be involved throughout the project lifecycle — from initial site appraisal through to reporting and construction support — working on schemes where ground conditions are critical to success.

Interpreting geotechnical data to inform civil and structural design
Logging to BS5930 and sampling soils, rock, and groundwater
Delivering contaminated land assessments from Phase I through to Phase IV
Developing conceptual site models and undertaking risk assessments (qualitative and quantitative)
Producing environmental documentation such as CEMPs, MMPs, earthworks specifications, and waste classification plans
Monitoring and interpreting ground gas and groundwater data
Preparing and reviewing clear, accurate technical reports
Ensuring compliance with CDM regulations, health & safety standards, and environmental requirements
Liaising with clients, regulators, contractors, and other stakeholders
Collaborating closely with civil and structural engineers on multidisciplinary projects About You
