IT Support Engineer

Hybrid (Office / Site-Based – Cambridgeshire & surrounding areas)

£40,000-£42,000 per annum depending on experience 

Reporting to: Operations Director / Head of IT

The Role

My client, a contractor specialising in social housing, is seeking a proactive, hands-on IT Support Engineer to take ownership of day-to-day IT operations.

This is a business-critical role where IT performance directly impacts site operations, job delivery, and revenue. You’ll work closely with a third-party IT provider, ensuring systems are reliable, issues are resolved quickly, and continuous improvements are delivered.

This is not a passive helpdesk role, you’ll take full ownership of IT outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Provide 1st & 2nd line support across office and field teams
Troubleshoot Microsoft 365, devices, and field-based systems
Build and manage devices via Intune / Entra
Manage users, permissions, and device lifecycle
Own and drive IT issues through to resolution
Coordinate and hold third-party IT providers accountable
Support networks, connectivity, and site setups
Maintain security, compliance, and access controls
Monitor IT performance and manage SLAs
Identify recurring issues and implement long-term fixes
Maintain clear documentation and improve internal knowledge
Support stakeholders with clear, practical communication

Key Requirements

Essential

Experience in 1st / 2nd line IT support
Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra (Azure AD), and Intune
Experience supporting remote users and multiple locations
Strong troubleshooting and prioritisation skills
Full UK driving licence
Desirable

Experience with field service / job management systems
Hybrid AD environments
Basic PowerShell scripting
Network setup and troubleshooting
Exposure to endpoint and email security tools
