Divisional Director
Role Overview
A rapidly expanding commercial fit‑out contractor is seeking a highly capable Divisional Director to join its senior leadership team during a pivotal period of growth. With turnover rising from £65m to £100m and ambitious plans to cement its position as a Tier 1 fit‑out contractor, this role is central to strengthening operational leadership and supporting the business as it scales.
The Divisional Director will take full responsibility for leading a major delivery division, overseeing project teams, commercial performance, client relationships, and operational excellence. This is a strategic leadership role for a senior operator who can bring Tier 1 standards, structure, and governance while thriving in a fast‑moving, entrepreneurial environment.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Business Leadership
Lead a major division with full responsibility for delivery, performance, and growth.
Support the Managing Director in shaping and executing the company's long‑term strategy.
Drive the business toward Tier 1 operational standards, systems, and governance.
Identify opportunities for expansion, new sectors, and strategic partnerships.
Operational Excellence
Oversee multiple project teams delivering CAT A, CAT B, and refurbishment projects.
Ensure projects are delivered safely, profitably, and to the highest quality standards.
Work closely with the Operations Director to enhance processes, reporting, and delivery frameworks.
Implement best‑practice systems for programme management, risk control, and operational consistency.
Commercial & Financial Control
Hold divisional P&L responsibility, ensuring strong financial performance and margin protection.
Collaborate with the Commercial Director on cost control, forecasting, and commercial strategy.
Support pre‑construction with bid strategy, tender governance, and client presentations.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
Build and maintain senior‑level relationships with clients, project managers, cost consultants, and supply chain partners.
Represent the business at tender interviews, negotiations, and industry events.
Ensure exceptional client satisfaction and repeat business across the division.
People Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop Project Directors, Project Managers, and delivery teams.
Foster a high‑performance culture aligned with the company's values and Tier 1 aspirations.
Champion collaboration between design, commercial, technical, and delivery functions.
Support succession planning and talent development as the business scales.
🧩 What We're Looking For
Experience
Senior leadership experience within a Tier 1 or Tier 2 commercial fit‑out contractor.
Proven track record delivering £10m-£50m+ projects or managing a £30m-£70m division.
Strong operational and commercial leadership capability.
Experience scaling teams and improving business processes during growth phases.
Skills & Attributes

Strong commercial acumen and financial literacy.

Qualifications
Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
Professional memberships (CIOB, RICS, APM) advantageous but not essential.
