Senior Planner (Traditional Cut & Carve – Major Project)

🚀 Role Overview

A leading commercial fit‑out and refurbishment contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Planner to support a flagship £50m+ traditional cut‑and‑carve project in central London.

This role sits within a growing business that is expanding into larger, more technically complex schemes. The successful candidate will play a pivotal part in shaping programme strategy, supporting pre‑construction, and ensuring robust planning governance throughout delivery.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Planner with strong structural refurbishment and sequencing experience to step into a major project environment.

🛠️ Key Responsibilities

Pre‑Construction Planning

Develop detailed tender and pre‑construction programmes for a major cut‑and‑carve project.

Analyse structural, architectural, and MEP information to build accurate sequencing.

Work closely with pre‑construction, design, and commercial teams to align programme, methodology, and logistics.

Identify risks, opportunities, and critical path activities early in the planning process.

Construction Planning & Delivery Support

Produce, update, and manage construction programmes throughout the project lifecycle.

Support project teams with short‑term planning, look‑ahead schedules, and progress reporting.

Monitor progress against baseline programmes and provide clear, actionable insights.

Attend site meetings, design reviews, and coordination sessions to ensure programme alignment.

Programme Governance & Reporting

Maintain accurate programme records, revisions, and delay analysis.

Provide regular updates to senior leadership and project stakeholders.

Support EOT assessments, claims, and commercial reporting where required.

Ensure all planning outputs meet internal governance and client expectations.

Collaboration & Communication

Work closely with project managers, design teams, commercial teams, and subcontractors.

Communicate programme requirements clearly and confidently to internal and external stakeholders.

Support the development of planning standards, templates, and best‑practice processes across the business.

🧩 What We're Looking For

Experience

Proven experience as a Planner within a fit‑out, refurbishment, or main contracting environment.

Strong understanding of cut‑and‑carve, structural alterations, and complex logistics.

Experience planning projects £20m-£50m+, ideally under traditional procurement routes.

Proficiency with Asta Powerproject (essential).

Skills & Attributes

Highly analytical with strong attention to detail.

Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Ability to challenge design and delivery assumptions constructively.

Strong understanding of sequencing, logistics, and buildability in constrained environments.

Calm, organised, and solutions‑driven.

Qualifications

Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred).

Professional memberships (CIOB, APM) beneficial but not essential.
