Quantity Surveyor
We’re recruiting an experienced Quantity Surveyor for our client in York. The company are a regional construction main contractor who work on new build construction and refurbishment projects between £1 million and £10 million in value. They work on projects throughout Yorkshire in the commercial, industrial, education, health, retail, and residential sectors.
The Quantity Surveyor is to provide commercial support on projects to ensure that they are procured and delivered within budget and to the highest quality whilst exceeding customers' expectations. The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the delivery of projects to meet financial targets. You will have good communication skills with the ability to nurture relationships with both the supply chain and customers.
Duties and responsibilities:
* Effective commercial control of allocated projects including provision of timely and accurate documentation in accordance with the reporting timetable, in particular CVR’s, forecasts, Commercial improvement documents, cash flow forecast, Commercial register etc…
* Effective cash management including timely application / certification / invoicing / payment / receipts and careful administration of subcontract accounts.
* Ensuring that payments and notices are affected in accordance with the subcontract agreement and Construction Act and ensure that any commercial threats or risks to projects are identified and communicated to line manager.
* In conjunction with the Procurement team ensure that the procurement of sub-contractors and suppliers is undertaken in a timely and cost-effective manner ensuring that the packages are robust with buying gains optimised.
* Manage the timely production of the Subcontract Final Accounts, including re-measurement as necessary to ensure the best result, evaluation and agreement of all variations, extensions of time, loss and expense claims.
Requirement:
Applicants must have experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry for main contractors, at either intermediate or senior level. You will be responsible for running multiple projects at once including subcontract procurement, payments and measures, cost management and valuations, build estimates and variation costings, forecasting, and cost value reporting. Applicants must have knowledge of JCT / NEC form of contracts
