Pre Construction Manager

We are currently working with a well-established and growing specialist façades contractor based in Hertfordshire who is looking to appoint an experienced Preconstruction Manager to join their team. This is a key role within the business, offering the opportunity to lead the preconstruction function across a range of high-profile façade projects.

As Preconstruction Manager, you will be responsible for managing the full preconstruction process—from initial enquiry through to contract award. You will play a pivotal role in securing new projects, coordinating design, estimating, and commercial inputs, and ensuring technically robust and competitive submissions.

Key Responsibilities of the Pre Construction Manager:

* Lead and manage the preconstruction process from tender stage through to handover

* Coordinate internal teams including design, estimating, and commercial departments

* Review tender documentation, specifications, and employer’s requirements

* Oversee preparation of technical submissions, proposals, and value engineering options

* Liaise with clients, architects, consultants, and main contractors

* Manage bid programmes and ensure deadlines are met

* Identify risks, opportunities, and key project constraints

* Support pricing strategy and commercial input on bids

* Drive innovation and buildability throughout the preconstruction phase

* Ensure smooth transition from preconstruction to delivery teams

Requirements of the Pre Construction Manager:

* Proven experience in a Preconstruction Manager, Bid Manager, or Senior Estimator role within façades or the building envelope sector

* Strong technical knowledge of façade systems (cladding, curtain walling, glazing, etc.)

* Experience managing tenders and leading bid submissions

* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

* Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail

* Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines
